Casper is a revolution in core shed technology. Don't carry your core to your camera. Roll your camera to your core. Casper is an customisable, ergonomic, light weight (less than 7 kilos) unit that can roll over your core in place on your roller racking.
Casper is compatible with NQ, PQ, and HQ Core trays.
To address the challenges of capturing high-quality images of drill core samples, we recently introduced the Casper mobile photography station to our range. This system is designed to produce high-resolution photos with consistent lighting and minimized reflections.
CASPER is a camera-to-the-core core tray photography system. That means CASPER will minimize the amount of handling required to get optimal quality photos of your valuable core.
We know that everybody has their own finely tuned work practices and any solution will need to work with them and not against them. That’s why we customize CASPER to your specifications.
CASPER loves the ideal world..
With fitted wheels that hug the roller racking, CASPER can roll up and down the racks all day. Your Camera, PC, and light shroud all remain correctly configured and ready to go, even when, and every time you move it.
But not everyone has roller racking, some don’t even have a core shed.
That’s why we customize CASPER to your needs.
Your needs can be many and varied. Below are just a few of the custom environment issues we have already worked with.

For many the simple solution for having a photography workstation is to use a flat tabletop.
Table Top CASPER is much the same as the roller table version. The difference is that there is no need to match wheel heights to the railings and V Channel of the roller table. And the CASPER does not need to be an exact fit. As long as the wheels are wider than a core tray, and narrower than the table in use CASPER can be used anywhere.
A typical Table Top CASPER is 66cm wide and 115cm long.
Because of constraints in their work environment some people want the CASPER to remain stationary.
CASPER's front wheels have fitted with breaks. This makes the CASPER stationary by default. You have to release the breaks to let it roll.
Sometimes you just don't want wheels at all. We can replace the wheels with feet.
Feet are stable and adjustable for when you are working with flat but uneven surfaces.
Feet are also very useful in certain circumstances where the CASPER needs to be bolted down, for example if it is to work on a steep angle.
A lot of organisations work in makeshift environments. They use what's available to make their work benches. In many cases it is simply a stand made of drill rods.
Core trays are viewed end on, and there is no solid surface for a CASPER to roll on.
This requires an alternative way to work with CASPER.
Drill Rod CASPER is supplied with feet and cross beams that enable the CASPER to straddle the drill rods.
The end feet allow the CASPER to stand on any level surface when not in use.
There are also two concave middle feet that can slide into the appropriate spacing for your drill rods, and act as feet when the CASPER is in use.

Because of the layout of the work zone it will require a two person lift to efficiently move CASPER from tray to tray, but weighing only 7KG makes this a very light job for everyone.
We don't just supply products. We work with our customers to find out what they really need in a work environment. Australian explorers are some of the most demanding in the world. This is what they demanded. They have proved it works. And it is now available globally.

Drill core is heavy. The less time spent handling and moving it the better. A mobile photography station means you can do your core photography on-site. Minimise the physical labour and optimise your time.
It's easier to move one camera than an entire shed of core.
Create quality photos to enable you to make the most of imaging analysis services. There are multiple services out there, providing various levels of filing and analysis capability. Their results are limited by the quality of photograph you submit. Casper provides high-resolution photos with consistent light and minimised reflections. The end result is a better result.
Designed to help companies manage their high volume of geological images, Imago is a cloud-based platform for extracting knowledge from geoscientific imagery. It consolidates images from any source, transforms them into meaningful insights, connects them to the appropriate geological or mining activity, and enables you to validate drilling investment decisions.
Imago streamlines the process of capturing and managing core imagery. It lets you capture high-quality images in the core shed, automatically crops and catalogues them, and accelerates their accessibility by syncing them into your cloud-based Portal where they are available to view and share in seconds. You can visually validate and stay connected with drilling while it happens. It saves time and drives higher productivity, enabling you to spend less time managing images and more time on geology.
Casper is a mobile, lightweight, and field-tested core tray photography package for core sheds that includes all hardware and software to get you started. Casper has been collecting hundreds of thousands of high-quality core photographs since it was released in January 2020. The feedback from logging geologists has been very positive because Casper is comfortable to use and captures great photographs.
Casper follows a 'camera-to-core' principle where, instead of a fixed core photography station, a mobile frame rolls along roller racks over the core trays to consistently acquire high-quality imagery.
Casper is a modular system, which means it can be customised to perfectly match the width of flat roller racks (min gauge 575mm, max gauge 700mm). It's even possible to transform Casper into a fixed camera station by replacing its wheels for feet that allow it to be directly attached to a roller rack.
Additionally, we can accommodate any other customisations to meet the client's requirements due to in-house CAD (computer-aided design) and 3D printing capabilities.
Casper is compatible with cloud-enabled core photography management services. Alternatively, you can use Casper 'offline' with any live view & capture software. And in case you want to apply deep learning/machine learning to your core photographs then get in touch with the experts at DATAROCK
Casper Pro comes with a custom Windows app called Core Cropper. It allows to automatically crop, rotate & rename multiple core photographs based on a user-adjustable cropping template with a single click. Just select a folder with all the pictures and press CROP. Done.
Casper comes flat-packed and can be set up in less than 30 min. All you need is a single allen key (which comes in the box). It is easier than building a flat-pack bookcase.
